How do you correct a wrong Fawtara invoice?
Keep the original document and link the correction through the appropriate credit note and new invoice flow.

Direct answer
Do not erase an issued invoice as if it never existed. OTA's service-provider FAQ says a wrong buyer or VAT number is corrected with a credit note for the wrong buyer and a new invoice for the correct buyer. PINT OM includes a credit-note transaction. The exact sequence for other errors should be confirmed with the provider and tax adviser.

The short version
- Preserve the original invoice reference.
- Link the credit note to the correction case.
- Do not turn a POS void into an assumed tax cancellation.
Separate the operational and fiscal steps
A cashier may reverse a sale in the POS, while finance must correct a document already exchanged through Fawtara. Those events need related but distinct references. Keep who approved the correction and why in the audit trail.
Reconcile the result
After the provider accepts the credit note and any replacement invoice, compare the POS balance, customer account and fiscal document list. A successful API response for just one leg can leave the books wrong.
What to check in your own setup
- Capture the original invoice and buyer details.
- Confirm the correction route for the error type.
- Match credit note, replacement and ledger entries.
Questions people ask
Can a wrong buyer simply be edited?
OTA's published answer calls for a credit note and a new invoice, not silently editing the exchanged document.
