How do B2B and B2C Fawtara flows differ?

The buyer's provider, customer copy and submission path can differ between Oman business and consumer sales.

Direct answer

For B2B, the buyer may participate through its service provider. For a consumer without a provider, OTA says the seller's provider sends the prescribed tax data to OTA while the seller can deliver a compliant readable copy by its normal channel. The 30 June 2026 OTA monthly FAQ also discusses different submission timing. Confirm the latest instructions before configuring a deadline.

The short version

  • Do not use one buyer-data rule for every sale.
  • A readable consumer copy still needs the applicable OTA details.
  • Check current timing in the latest official FAQ.

Start with buyer status

A registered business may need VAT identification and a provider route; an individual buyer may not have either. The POS should capture the right information at checkout without forcing staff to invent a buyer VAT number.

Test a busy counter

Run B2B and B2C examples with refunds and intermittent connectivity. Check what the customer receives, what the provider accepts and how the cashier knows the status. OTA has said some QR details would be published separately, so do not hard-code an assumed payload.

What to check in your own setup

  • Classify the real transaction types sold.
  • Ask the provider for current B2B and B2C examples.
  • Confirm submission timing and QR rules from updated OTA material.

Questions people ask

Is a consumer required to have a service provider?

OTA's FAQ describes a B2C route where the buyer has no provider; the seller's provider reports the relevant tax data.
