Understand Fawtara
Fawtara, PINT OM and service providers: what is the difference?
A practical map of Oman's Fawtara programme, the PINT OM invoice format, accredited providers and the merchant's POS or ERP.

Direct answer
Fawtara is Oman's e-invoicing programme. PINT OM describes the structured invoice and credit-note data. An accredited service provider validates and exchanges documents in the five-corner model. Your POS or ERP still records the sale and prepares the source data. These are separate jobs, so a POS that exports XML is not automatically an accredited provider.

The short version
- Fawtara names the programme, not a single merchant app.
- PINT OM defines document structure and rules.
- Provider accreditation belongs to the approved legal entity and service, not every connected POS.
At a glance
| Term | Job | Check before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Fawtara | OTA's e-invoicing programme | Your taxpayer rollout and onboarding |
| PINT OM | Structured invoice and credit-note specification | Version and business-rule tests |
| Accredited provider | Validation, exchange and tax-data reporting | Current OTA status and service scope |
| POS or ERP | Source sale, customer and tax data | Actual version and provider integration |
Which part does each term describe?
The merchant's system owns products, prices, customer details and transaction references. PINT OM is the document contract used to express the invoice. The provider operates the regulated exchange and reports tax data to the Oman Tax Authority. Ask a vendor to draw those boundaries for one real sale before accepting the word 'integrated'.
Where EazSell fits
EazSell can supply the Android checkout workflow and help plan the data and status hand-off to an accredited provider. The provider, merchant and OTA onboarding determine whether a particular setup may go live. EazSell does not claim OTA accreditation.
A decision that can wait
You do not need to replace a working POS merely because the regulated exchange uses a new format. First identify the invoice data the existing system can produce, then test it against the selected provider's interface and the current PINT OM rules.
What to check in your own setup
- Identify who owns the POS, data mapping, provider account and error queue.
- Check the provider's current OTA accreditation and project scope.
- Test a sale, rejection and correction with the exact software versions.
Questions people ask
Is PINT OM a Fawtara portal?
No. It is the Oman invoice specification published through OpenPeppol.
Can an ERP send straight to OTA?
The OTA describes a five-corner route through service providers. Confirm the permitted connection for the taxpayer and provider before building one.
Sources and verification
OTA and OpenPeppol material can change. Check the latest official version before making a tax or deployment decision.
