When does Fawtara apply to your Oman business?

Use the OTA rollout checker and published phases instead of guessing an e-invoicing deadline from company size.

Direct answer

The OTA's published phases begin with 100 selected large VAT-registered businesses in August 2026, followed by other large VAT taxpayers in February 2027 and remaining VAT taxpayers in August 2027. Your own onboarding period should be checked using the OTA VATIN rollout tool and any direct notice. Do not infer it from a general article.

Check the actual taxpayer

Use the full VAT number in the OTA checker. Save the result and ask the finance owner to confirm the registered entity, tax group and any OTA communication. A chain of shops may have more than one operating company, so one lookup may not cover every till.

Prepare before the date

List your invoicing systems, annual invoice volume, stores, customer data and correction process. Then speak to an accredited provider about testing and onboarding. The work is easier when the merchant knows which system owns each field.

Are all small businesses in the first phase?

No. OTA places remaining VAT-registered taxpayers, including SMEs, in a later phase.
